KM3NeT4RR develops learning environments to enhance the entrepreneurial culture and, at the same time, educating talented people with knowledge and skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
Policy makers, civil society and local communities have increasingly growing expectations on research infrastructures. It involves monitoring and measuring scientific, economic and social impacts of the KM3NeT4RR on the entire ecosystem as a whole. Focusing on value creation means defining a vision of the benefits to create for and with the stakeholders and working to reach such a vision.
Research infrastructures are essential components not only of scientific and technological progress but generally of the socio-economic wealth of the ecosystem where they are located. The interpretation and representation of value creation and therefore of impact generation of a research infrastructure on a territory are central features.
The infrastructure is embedded in a dynamic and inclusive ecosystem and it is worthy to inform all stakeholders, through a socio-economic impact assessment about its shared value creation. It considers the persistence in time and scope of the scientific and economic results in terms of incremental wealth generated by the research infrastructure KM3NeT4RR.
The adoption of an entrepreneurial culture permits a representation of the project complexity that can help all actors involved in capturing, mapping and understanding all the necessary activities, orienting them towards desired results and expected impacts. It also serves to align research and economic value.
In view of the different types of impact generated, related to added value in the form of payment of salaries and taxes, of reinvested incomes and spending to suppliers of goods and services for activities directly (also not directly) related to the project, the entrepreneurial implications regard to social impact, resulting, among the others, in the value generated by patent activity, spin-off creation, scientific publications, human capital and knowledge spillover. To this end, it includes the management of knowledge processes with the implementation of learning environments both to effectively enhance, integrate, store and exploit data and knowledge and to empower the entrepreneurial and managerial culture as well as scientific and technologic skills and competences.
In doing so, the research infrastructure is aimed at communicating, disseminating and transferring the knowledge produced to citizens, stakeholders, media and institutional players. It includes the organization of conferences for the scientific and industrial community to allow knowledge spillover and technology transfer, the realization of round tables with policy-makers to support project activities, the cooperation with other projects through the organization of joint events to encourage synergies and complementarities to new venture creation.
The entrepreneurial community engagement activities are implemented to facilitate the processes of value co-creation, also through the realization of conferences, seminars and “boot camp” as well as the use of social media to facilitate collective action for mutual benefit and to help community engaged (a) to adaptively learn, (b) to create an interest in the project and (c) to facilitate the exploitation of its results and the achievement of the desired impact in terms of capacity building of social connectedness managing Intellectual Property strategy, innovative business models’ and results commercialization.
Management of Research Funding and Planning for Ecosystem Innovation. The master aims to successfully manage research projects and secure funding at
European, National and Regional level to strengthen economic growth through the development of Ecosystem Innovation.
The objective of the programme is to deliver post-graduate training and create a body of knowledge on how entrepreneurial universities contribute to the
processes of value co-creation for the scientific and industrial community to allow technology transfer and knowledge spillover.
